Hands-on Learning with Concrete Materials = Colourful Mathematics Plus+

The Colourful Mathematics Plus+ programme offers practical support for teachers in running active, hands-on lessons based on working with concrete materials, in line with the principles of "Reform26: Compass for Tomorrow".

The programme's greatest strength is its community of over 6,000 active teachers and practitioners who share ideas, inspire one another, and provide examples of activities from their everyday work with children.

The free lesson plans, exercises, and materials included in the Programme provide practical support for use in preschools and grades 1–3, covering areas such as mathematics, language, science, and technical education, as well as cognitive and social development.

What Does Plus+ Mean?

Plus+ means extending hands-on work with concrete materials to many areas of education.

The first edition showed that children understand mathematics better when they can see it, touch it, build it, count it, measure it, and test it. The second edition goes further.

In Colourful Mathematics Plus+, concrete materials become a tool for covering many areas of the new core curriculum. Mathematics remains the foundation of the programme, with new areas added alongside it.
